Why does Cecily Brown’s work influence me?
Cecily’s work is very abstract and this is what is influencing my idea of basing some paintings on my banna peel prints. The way she uses brush stokes and thickily applies the paint is how I would like to create my painting. I love how much depth is in her work, I really find it draws you in as some have almost hidden images that you can make out more when you squint your eyes, her work has a distinctive female view point. I have read alot more negative reviews on her work that I have positive as people feel their is a lack of depth and her work is too chaoitic, but it’s the textures and way she applied the paint that really interest me.
