Preparing my illustrator designs for the lazer cutter. First I had to join all my edges, looking at the designs normally they look fine, it’s only when you zoom in that you start to see that not all the edges match up neatly and this is something that the lazer cutter will pick up on. I then had expand the vecter lines so that it the area AROUND the black line cut out and not the line it’s self. Attention to detail is massively important because of how precise the lazer cutter picks up on things. I have two sheets of designs and my first step was to play around with the weight of the line and see how that works once it’s cut out, so i’ve choosen a few motifs of different sizes to create a almost test sample sheet for how they will come out at different widths and from that I can choose which ones look better etc.
