Today was my first attempt at using the lazer cutter, now I wanted my designs to be cut through however I realised after my first design that the lazer cutter was far too strong and the spacing was far too small and it just completely burnt up. In order to not waste a slot of the machine I chose to engrave my designs so i’m still able to look at size and width of the lines. It appears 1mm is the smallest i’m able to go (in line width) and I might have to look at changing my material and using acrylic because that won’t melt under the heat. I also discovered that i’m going to have to re-create me designs on illustrator because although I joined the corners, the initial rectangle shape, it is made up as, still appears - which you can see in the bottom photo.
My next step is going back to illustrator dropin sessions and creating more designs and motifs in which the corners aren’t broken up and the width is no smaller than 1mm.
